White Stripes Mix

I've had a few weeks now to digest the White Stripes' latest, "Get Behind Me Satan," and I think it's a very good album. Certainly not their best; "White Blood Cells" and "Elephant"--in that order--share that honor. But it is very good: it has such a laid back, easy quality to it, that I don't mind that it is somewhat half-formed.

But the more important question is: What does this do to my "Ultimate White Stripes Mix"? Satan has a few contributions (how crazy a clause is that?), but the rest of their catalogue still dominates. So, since I love to make mixed CDs and tell everyone about it (could there be a more perfect use for a blog?), here's what I take to be the best 80-minutes the White Stripes' catalogue currently has to offer:
  1. Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground
  2. Hello Operator
  3. The Air Near my Fingers
  4. My Doorbell
  5. Offend in Every Way
  6. I Want To Be The Boy To Warm Your Mother's Heart
  7. Fell in Love With a Girl
  8. I'm Bound to Pack It Up
  9. Take, Take, Take
  10. Lord, Send Me An Angel
  11. I'm Finding it Harder to be a Gentleman
  12. Rated X
  13. Apple Blossom
  14. You've Got Her In Your Pocket
  15. Jolene
  16. Little Ghost
  17. The Union Forever
  18. The Denial Twist
  19. Hotel Yorba
  20. Truth Doesn't Make a Noise
  21. Hypnotize
  22. The Same Boy You've Always Known
  23. It's True That We Love One Another
  24. Now Mary
  25. Forever For Her (Is Over For Me)
  26. We're Going To Be Friends
  27. Your Southern Can is Mine
Definitely let me know what I've missed...

UPDATE: What the hell? Blogger ate the track numbers. So imagine this list in sequence, because that's what I burned for my car...

  • I am going to have to disagree with you on this one and say White Blood Cells ... Get Behind me Satan ... Destijl ... and Elephant as the order of Best White Stripes albums ... and I think "I Think I Smell a Rat" was your biggest omission, simple yet loud and awesome.
